It was with sadness we said farewell to Eileen Clarkson at the end of last month as her role of lay pastor to the Circuit came to an end. We were pleased Eileen and her husband Charlie could join us for a farewell lunch during which we presented them with gifts as small tokens of our appreciation and gratitude for all they have done during Eileen’s tenure. Eileen will be greatly missed having helped and supported our church in its aims and objectives as well as so many of us personally. The outdoor crib scene designed and made by Charlie for us 4 years ago provides a lasting memory for us and the whole village each Christmas. We will be pleased to welcome Eileen back for our Harvest Festival service on 28 September and to our Fun and Fruit Trail afternoon on 18 October.

The audience of in excess of 70 thoroughly enjoyed the performances by the talented local performers. The afternoon tea went down well too in the interval! A fantastic total of over £700 was raised for church funds.
A big thank you to all who attended and supported the event and thanks to the Stewards and everyone who worked hard to make the event such a success.

Having decorated the church for harvest we had an enjoyable Harvest service lead by our lay pastor, Eileen on 11 October. We were joined by our friends from Collingham Methodist Church and followed the service with a jacket potato lunch. Our total food gifts to the Wetherby Food bank was just short of 40kgs. Thank you to all who supported us in the decoration of the church, preparation and service of lunch and food donations.

At our 133rd chapel anniversary in May we were pleased to unveil a plaque in our garden in memory of Valerie Green. Valerie was a long standing and dedicated member of our church. She was also a Girl Guide leader, where she was known as “Robin”, for over 30 years. Her kind bequest enabled our garden makeover. Please feel free to visit our garden and take a quiet moment to pause and reflect. You may also spot the Robin in tribute to Valerie too!
